A scientific promotion

 

A Teaching staff  from the Department of Materials Engineering gets a scientific promotion Lect. Dr. Basma Hashim Mohammed, from the Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology, received a scientific promotion from the rank of lecturer to the rank assistant professor , for fulfilling all the requirements for scientific promotion, while enjoying all the rights and privileges that this rank entitles him to, according to the university order No. P/320 dated 10/7/2023

Thanks and appreciation

 

Mr. Ali Amer Hamid, engineer in the Materials Engineering Department, received a letter of thanks and appreciation from the President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Respected Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, in appreciation of the distinguished efforts made in publishing research in a respected international journal, indexed within the Clarivate database, according to the book, number 2069/SH, dated 7/24/2023.

Research Title

"Characterizing optimum electrospinning conditions for graft urethanized Poly(Vinyl Alcohol)(U-PVA)"

Abstract:

  • The aim of the research is to obtain the ideal conditions used in the electron spinning technique for the graft urethanized Poly(Vinyl Alcohol)(U-PVA), which is used in a wide range of medical applications. With the membrane, and then conducting medical and biological examinations to see their medical compatibility. The research has been published in the international journal Heliyon with an impact factor of 3.7, Open Access. (Clarivate Q1 index).

Meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council

 

The Department of Materials Engineering holds a meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council

The Materials Engineering Department held a meeting of the Industrial Advisory Council on Thursday, 8/3/2023, in the presence of the Department Head, Prof. Respected Hussein Alaa Jaber and the members of the Department Council and members of the Industrial Advisory Council, namely:

  • Senior Chief Engineer Hussein Muhammad Youssef / Ministry of Industry and Minerals
  • Senior Chief Engineer Muthanna Hassan Salumi / Iraqi Ministry of Environment.
  • Expert Engineer Mohamed Hadi Murad / Managing Director of the National Company for Chemical and Plastic Industries.
  • Family Medicine Consultant, Dr. Haitham Mikhlif Al-Obaidi / Iraqi Ministry of Health.
  • Chief Engineer of Karrar Saddam Shannon / Baghdad Governorate Office.

Where the honorable head of the department welcomed the council members, the topics of the meeting were then discussed, the most prominent of which was a brief overview of the academic program for each branch presented by the branch heads and how to develop it in order to improve job opportunities for graduates, and implement the requirements for obtaining programmatic accreditation from the Iraqi Council for Accreditation of Engineering Education. . The committee was also briefed on a brief overview of the Bologna path that will be implemented next year, as well as the plan for graduate studies in the coming years. The members of the Industrial Advisory Council stressed the necessity of opening graduate studies in the necessary specializations only according to the need of the labor market. The members also expressed their readiness. Full cooperation with the department council and faculty members in order to develop the department’s academic program in a way that supports the labor market’s need for materials engineering specializations in all its branches.

 

 

Completion of maintenance and rehabilitation work for classrooms in the Materials Engineering Department/University of Technology

Under the generous patronage of the Honorable President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghaban, and the supervision of the Head of the Materials Engineering Department, The Respected Asst. Prof. Dr. Hussein Alaa Jaber. Maintenance and rehabilitation work for classrooms was completed during the summer vacation period in the Materials Engineering Department in preparation for the next academic year to work on providing a suitable academic environment for students and professors. These works come as part of a group of ongoing campaigns to rehabilitate and maintain all of the department’s facilities.
